Joe Lieberman has told CongressDaily (subscription required) that he will support Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine in her 2008 reelection campaign. Collins had endorsed Lieberman last year when he was running for reelection. Moreover, Lieberman affirmed his previous statements that he might endorse a Republican for president and would not rule out a switch […]

According to Roll Call (subscription link), “Duncan Hunter misspelled “president” in his formal FEC filing.”
I’ll leave the job of assessing the significance of this error to someone who isn’t rolling on the floor laughing his ass off.

Democratic Senator Tim Johnson of South Dakota has spent the last four months recovering from a brain hemorrhage. He’s up for reelection in 2008 and his campaign reported receipts of over $660,000 for the first quarter of 2006, despite being focused entirely on recovering from his illness.
Why do I bring up a Democratic Senate campaign’s […]

My pal Cliff Schecter has a post up on the latest Rasmussen numbers, which show John Edwards ahead of all Republican hopefuls for 2008. Edwards leads Republican front-runner Rudy Giuliani by six points (49%-43%) and hot candidate of the month Fred Thompson by fourteen points (50%-36%).
Giuliani has seen his poll numbers decline on several […]

Congressman Frank came by my school last week to talk to the American Constitution Society (I was just elected as its new BC Law President and am a new Editor at Large on ACSblog). He had some interesting things to say about the Democratic candidates (all the same), the economy (flexible and in need […]

Cross posted at Huffington Post
Marc Ambinder of Hotline On Call addresses John Podhoretz’s NY Post piece, wherein J-Pod gets antsy in his pantsy about Giuliani blowing his chances with conservative Republican voters by neglecting his leadership credentials. Ambinder writes:
Giuliani’s judgment about national security matters is central to his identity as a leader. Giuliani’s leadership […]

The “Draft Fred Thompson” movement now has a website, Fred08.com. With a domain name that appropriate to the candidate, it’s unlikely that we will end up having a creepy, proctology-inspired ExploreFred.com domain, in the tradition of ExploreMcCain.com and ExploreHuckabee.com.
Who else is disappointed?

Howie Klein has an interesting piece on how donations from Mormons are propelling Mitt Romney’s campaign to the front of the Republican field in terms of fundraising dollars. Of particular note is Romney’s success in Utah, where a majority of the citizens are Mormon like Romney.
Today’s Deseret Morning News, in a rather understated way, calls […]

The latest Rasmussen poll shows that talk of Fred Thompson entering into the race continues to change how Republican voters are thinking about the field.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) remains on top, but his support dips below the 30% mark for the first time in seven weeks. With Thompson in the mix, […]

Jonathan Singer of MyDD interviewed Senator John Kerry yesterday. In the interview, Kerry said that John McCain approached him via a staffer to see if Kerry would be interested in having McCain on 2004 Democratic ticket as vice president. Here’s the transcript of the Singer interview:
Jonathan Singer: There’s a story in The Hill, I think […]
