A proud co-founder of the Baltimore Group and de facto mother of Puppy of the United States, Murphy, Austin Evers spends his time getting up early, drinking coffee, wrastlin’ with the dog, blogging, working, and arguing with his co-blogger about the extent to which they agree on the minutiae of the day’s current events. An avid cook, Austin consumes too much DaVero olive oil, wine, and other farm products. He also enjoys writing in the third person.
Austin graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in International Relations and a penchant for disrupting nice evenings with political tirades. After graduation, he hiked from Southern California to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail, covering over 2000 miles in 4 months. Despite missing most of the 2004 election season for lack of access to the news, he returned more emboldened than ever and quickly co-founded the Baltimore Group. To support his blogging habit, Austin joined a political internet company and spent 8 months helping campaigns around the country clear the technical hurdles of launching a web campaign. Having made a serious error in judgement, Boston College Law School accepted this unwashed blogger into its ranks and will now have to deal with him for 3 years.
Before heading to school, Austin worked for David Yassky on his campaign for Congress in Brooklyn’s 11th District where he learned the ins and outs of NGP databases, fundraising and 21st Century urban politics. Additionally, it must be clear that Austin expresses only his own views on Emboldened and in the Baltimore Group, and not those of his employer. Austin loves his job and his blog, so please don’t force him to choose between them.
Austin originally wrote under the name The Stuffed Tiger but is now blogging loudly and proudly here and at Bring It On! as a front page contributor, not to mention serving as a producer and reporter for the Roots Project weekly podcast. He assures you that Matt is less of a tool than he appears.
