A few things from today’s Hartford Courant caught my eye, none of them worthy of their own post.
Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez wants Mario Lemieux to move the Pittsburgh Penguins to Hartford. I’m a Rangers fan myself and live in NYC - would anyone here buy season tickets to a new Hartford hockey team? Is there a big enough market in Connecticut?
This is a few days old, but Senator Dodd and Rep. Larson are pushing for new Secretary of Defense Gates to exclude soldiers with post traumatic stress disorder from being recalled to fight in Iraq. This comes in response to a Courant expose on Connecticut troops with PTSD being recalled at great expense to their mental health.
Public Service Announcement: Connecticut’s Blue Laws governing buying alcohol on Sunday are suspended tomorrow and on New Year’s Eve. Many liquor store owners actually oppose this, because most CTers don’t think to buy booze on Sundays out of habit and thus these extra days open often come at a loss.
There’s a great letter to the editor on blogs and bloggers in the Hartford Courant.
Anyone else doing last minute holiday shopping today (cough Dad)?
