I spent yesterday at my parents house in Westport with an assortment of cousins and relatives I haven’t seen in a while. I grew up in the best of both worlds, with a Jewish mother and a Christian father. Though we were a largely secular household, we celebrated both Hannukah and Christmas, primarily as an opportunity to give each other presents. I never complained as a kid, because, hey who doesn’t like presents?
Yesterday I wrote that one of my wishes for this holiday season is that Senator Dodd (and to a lesser extent Senator Kerry) return from his trip to the Middle East with a revised position on Iraq and the time in which we must end this war. Admittedly it’s a fairly grand, if abstract, wish. One of my more mundane wishes would be an Apple cinema display, so I can see what this blog looks like on a screen that’s bigger than twelve inches. I’m giving my friends lots of gifts from Students for a Free Tibet’s online store, which if you poke around you might find silly pictures of me modeling shirts.
Today I’m wondering what your holiday wishes are. What gifts do you want? What are you giving your family and friends? What do you want from the world as another year draws to a close?
