Shorter Bush…
On the UN resolution on Lebanon: “Yeah, what Condi said.”
On the international force for Lebanon: “NOT IT!”
On aid to Lebanon: “We let them hit you because we love you. Here’s some flowers, be sure to greet the international force with them in the streets.”
On excessive civilian deaths in Iraq: “We have a plan.”
On civil war: “We have a plan.”
On Withdrawal: “WRONG therefore WRONG.”
On Helen Thomas: “You’re a joke.”
On a new strategy for Iraq: “Our strategy will remain hubris. We will stay through January 2009 at which point I’m out, yo. Americans dying in Iraq helps reformers in other Middle East countries.”
MSNBC is showing images of fleeing Iraqis as Bush says the Iraqis are demonstrating courage.
On sanctions on Iran: “Diplomilitarism is my strategy.”
On being Bush frustrated with progress in Iraq: “What? I’m bipolar, I think. I’m not doing the happy happy joy joy dance, if that’s what you mean. I’m a man, I don’t dance.”
On our broader strategy: “The cornerstone of our strategy is to support democracies by ignoring ours at home.”
On Lamont of Lieberman emboldening terrorists: “That’s not what we’re saying even though we said it. Electing Lamont is accepting defeat in Iraq. Electing Democrats has consequences: you will die.”
On Connecticut: “I’m staying out of Connecticut.” Press: “YOU WERE BORN IN CONNECTICUT.” Bush: “SHHHH.” (that’s a direct transcript)
On what role Iraq had in 9/11: “Nothing! but I never said that, even though I just referenced 9/11 when talking about Iraq.”
Ha. The press just compared itself to the insurgency in Iraq.

It’s truly fortunate that the political dynamics surrounding Joe Lieberman have coincidentally arrayed themselves into the perfect placement for him to step in and save the day. […]
