Tonight’s the night! Bush’s approval rating has dropped below 30% in the new Harris Interactive poll. 70% of Americans think that the country is on the wrong track, and these numbers don’t even take Hayden or the new NSA scandal into account.
Having just laid out Bush’s strategy for dominating America, I am pleased to say that I am confident that the President’s worst nightmare is upon him: America is uniting for change. The Anti-Bush constituency is being joined by people who want their government to do something positive. It’s an offensive and defensive shift in perception that Bush will not recover from.
[Update]: I got the WSJ article with all the numbers and there’s some startling data in there:
| May | April | ||||
| Total | Male | Female | Male | Female | |
| Positive | 29% | 28% | 29% | 38% | 32% |
| Negative | 71 | 72 | 70 | 61 | 66 |
Bush’s approval among men has dropped three times as much as among women. I’m not an expert, but I have to figure that the GOP’s response to immigration and its implications for the state of the American Dream are a big part of this drop. Gas prices, too.
80% of respondents give Congress negative ratings, with Democrats faring slightly better than Republicans (23 to 20% approval, respectively).
Also telling is that less than 0.5% listed “Gay Marriage” as one of the most important issues. This is a perfect example of how good the GOP, and Rove in particular, is at campaigning but how crappy they are at governing–their presidential election year agenda is irrelevant these days.
Iraq is the “most important issue for the government to address.” Duh.
Self-identified Liberals give Congressional Democrats only 29% approval, which sounds low until you see that they give the GOP 9% approval.
When every part of our government is getting panned in the polls, conservatives might try to downplay the importance of these numbers. The simple fact of the matter is that 69% of respondents think our country is on the wrong track and I think people can recognize that it’s the GOP that’s at the wheel.

29% just isn’t quite low enough. He needs to be below Nixon. Nixon bottomed out at 25%. Bush will try to suck up to conservatives on Monday on immigration, but it won’t work. Impeach him now!!!
